People might have forgotten all about Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean" movie, if not for the sequels... And although at the time I thought "PotC" entertaining but nothing more, and I'm still convinced that the second part of the trilogy sucked bilge water ~ here I am.
It's not so much the pirates that have lured me into this new obsession fandom, but rather the boys of the Royal Navy, with their wigs and shoe buckles and lace and tons of brocade. As a smart person once put it, "Chicks dig wigs". At least, this chick does... and boy, I have gone down that slippery slope at full speed.
My shelves are now full of books about the Navy, about ships and boats and uniforms and eating habits of sailors, and about Nelson and Trafalgar ~ you get the picture. I think that in a short time, I have learned more about the 18th century British Royal Navy than is healthy for my brain... Don't let it distract you from the lovely Navyboys, though. They're all that matters.
As usual, any resemblance with living or deceased persons is unintentional and pure coincidence. No disrespect meant, no money made. And anyway, this is all purely fictional and has never happened. Any person in the fleet committing the unnatural and detestable sin of buggery and sodomy with man or beast was punished with death by the sentence of a court martial. So if you're seeing something slashy here, clearly it must be your imagination... ;)
