"Harp and Lute", Elrond and Lindir, G

Dated "January 2004", this picture really shows that skill with the pencil is not something you simply have. Compared to recent drawings, I'm always amazed how much I've learnt by simply drawing a lot. Today, I know that there's a lot that is wrong with this drawing, and still, I think it's one of my favourites, for several reasons:

First of all, it shows a private Elrond - the Elf behind the Ruler of Imladris, the Healer, the Wise Lord... then, it's two characters put into a situation that makes sense even without the slashy innuendo, and then there's the fact that I love drawing music instruments, even though I suck at it and need reference pics for every tiny detail.

Whether Elrond really played the harp, or whether Lindir was Imladris' head minstrel (as so often said in fanon), I don't know and I don't care. I just like the scene. :)
