Pencil outlines, digitally coloured, fabric done in CG manip
Another first attempt at something new. I've done a few pictures that were digitally coloured, but this was the first time I tried to use images of real fabric for the clothing.
I wanted to dress those fighting samurai in traditional Japanese silk kimonos, so I went and researched. Google picture search is a wonderful tool to find pics of... just about everything. And I found tons of pics of beautiful kimonos. Of course, no self-respecting samurai would dress up in his wife's kimono and go outside to fight his neighbour with sharp swords. But I wasn't aiming at historical accuracy ~ once again, I was only focused on the pretty.
This aside, there are probably easier ways to get fabric to look like fabric - my method for this picture involved pasting the kimono silk pics into a layer of the drawing and erasing the parts I didn't need. And that was a long and nerve-wracking process.
