Watercolour paint on 300g watercolour paper

In one episode of "Foyle's War" there is a character named Sean O'Halloran, who's not exactly the kind of guy you'd like to run into in a dark side alley... but he's played by Damian O'Hare, who is an excellent actor and no matter how many baddies he plays, he stands out in a crowd.

I admit that I have a bit of a weakness for red-haired men with dark brown eyes, and that I have a teeny tiny special weakness for red-haired, brown-eyed men with a lopsided smile... but how could I resist when a guy like that walks up to me with grubby clothes and just the right amount of oil stains on his hands, and demands to be painted? So I didn't resist - this is the result of an evening spent with my watercolours. (I used a screenshot as reference, since that facial expression isn't something you just draw from memory...)

Another interesting thing about this painting is that it was done completely without the help of inked outlines. I briefly thought about using Indian ink again, but decided against it and only filled in the colours into the pencil sketch... and I have to say I rather like the result!
