An illustration for the story "Drowned baby" by Galadhir. The story can be found here at Galadhir's journal. "Drowned baby", which can be a scary title for a story, is in fact a type of pudding which was quite popular, and one of the favourite of Patrick O'Brien's fictional character Captain Jack Aubrey.

Quote:
"Besides, the better part of him [Midshipman Mr. Norrington] answered, remembering what it was for everything to be new and wondrously strange. The prospect of showing all his favourite things to an admiring audience appealed. This could even be fun."
Senior midshipman Norrington finds an unexpected ally.

The scene depicted is here:
"On the whole," he said, thoughtfully, glancing sideways at the boy, whose drowned-baby looks were transformed into something almost pleasant by the wonder with which he watched the alien shore, "I’m glad you are on my side."
"Always." The formidable boy gave a smile of ‘butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth’ cuteness.
